Yummy food recipes for children!

A few of our friends and readers asked us to include a recipe section in our blog. We asked a few moms and they said it will be very helpful if we can do that. This inspired us to start a recipe book session in our platform. Our first blog in this session is a few yummy food recipes for children. We hope it helps some of you to explore your cooking skills and make your children happy.

Here we are providing 4 Yummy and fast tiffin food recipes for your children! Try them all and let us know your feedback and suggestions.

1. Vegetable Toasts

The best thing about the vegetable toasts are that it can be made in different size and styles. Children love to play a lot and as a parent you can help them to enjoy their meals by making vegetable toasts of different shape and size. Vegitable toasts are very good for health and is enriched with Nutritions.

Ingredients

4 slices of bread
4 medium boiled potatoes
1 cup finely chopped vegetables (Onion, Capsicum, Tomatoes etc.)
½ tsp red chili powder
½ tsp Chaat Masala
salt to taste
2 tbsp finely chopped green chilies and ginger
2 tbsp chopped coriander/cilantro leaves
oil for shallow frying

Preparation

 Take bread slices and cut them into different shapes and size you want.
Spread mixture on both sides of the bread. Take oil, heat the pan and grease the pan with oil. Cook the bread until it turns to golden color. Do the same for all the bread pieces. Now you can have tasty vegetable toast with chutney or ketch up.

2. Upma

Rava Upma is one of the favourate food of children. Upma can be made in a variety of tastes and is very good for health. Upma is nutrition rich and an easy to carry food.

Ingredients (240ML Cup)

1 Cup Rava

2 tblspn Oil/Ghee

1/3 to ¾ tspn mustard

1/3 to ¾ Cumin

1 to 1 1/2 tspn Urad dhal

1 to 1 1/2 tspn channa dal

2 Tblspn Peanut

8 Cashews

1 Spring curry leaves

1 Small onion (Chopped)

Green chili 2 Pcs

Finely chopped ginger ½ to ¾ cup

2/ to 3 cup Water

Ghee

Preparation

 Make Rava crunchy on medium heat and keep it inside a bowl. Keep Onion and green chili’s and ginger chopped finely in a bowl.

Take a pan add oil in it and fry Cumin, Urad dal, Channa dal and cashews. When the color turn golden, put chilies and ginger for a while. Then fry onions until the color gets transparent. Put salt and water. Check the taste and add more salt if needed. Bring water and set the flame into medium. Put rava in the oiling water and stir it finely with the other hand. Cover the pan and keep the stove in the low flame until every drop of water evaporates. Finally Add ghee, turn off the stove then keep it for 10 mints. Upma is ready now and you can serve it with chutney or spiced powder.

3. Chapathy egg roles

 Wheather its lunch, brunch or dinner Chapathi egg roles are one of the favourites of children. Normally these are the roles made by rolling Chapathy and omelette together.

Ingredients

Wheat flour 2 cups

Egg – 2

Paneer- 1 Tblspn

Butter – 3 Tblspn

Green bell pepper- Cup

Carrot – 1/2 cup

Pepper powder – 1/2 Tspn

Corriander Powder – 1/2 Tspn

Corriander leaves – 1 Tblspn

Salt – To taste

Oil – as required

Preparation

 Take wheat flour, Salt and Water in a bowl and prepare a tight dough. Add a little oil and mix it and keep it for sometime. Beat the eggs in a bowl. Saute some butter, green bell pepper, carrot, pepper powder, coriander powder,  in a pan. In some time take Fresh coriander finely chopped , grated Paneer and salt. Mix them well and keep it in a plate aside. Make Chapathy by using the tight dough prepared. Take butter in the pan with some oil along with the egg mixture and spread it. Top it up with the Vegetable stuffing we already prepared. On this take the half prepared Chapathy and cook it in the low flame. 

4. Aloo Parantha

 Aloo Parantha is one of the best Indian food. They are very tasty and simple to make. These can be served with many things like pickle, Chutney, Green Chutney etc.

Ingredients

2 mediumpotatoes, 1 cup mashed potatoes (aloo)

1/4 teaspoon ajwain, known as carom seeds

1 green chili,finely chopped

2 tablespoons finelychopped cilantro

1/4 teaspoon cuminpowder

1/4 teaspoon amchur, known as dry mango powder

1/8 teaspoon redchili powder, or adjust to taste

3/4 teaspoon salt ,or adjust to taste

1/4 teaspoon garam masala

3-4 teaspoons oil, to cook the paratha

1.5 cups atta

1 teaspoon vegetable oil

1/4 teaspoon salt

water, to knead the dough

Preparation

Mix wheat flour, oil and salt in a bowl together. Add some water and mix it well. Keep the dough for 15 – 0 minutes. Divide the dough into 4 – 6 equal parts. Boil the potatoes and mash it. Keep it in a bowl and add chopped cilantro, salt, ajwain, chopped green chili, cumin powder, chatmasala, garam masala powder, amchur and red chili powder. Mix everything well and keep the stuffing in a bowl.

Take the dough balls and role into a circle. Add the filling into the centre, Bring the edges together and seal it together. Now flatten the Filled dough balls. Now you can cook the flatten paratha into the hot pan. Cook well and now it can be served with a tea or pickle.
